Simbu becomes Cable raja


Proving media reports true that Simbu would replace Allu Arjun in the Tamil remake of Telugu hit 'Vedam', an official annoucement has been made today that the film has been titled 'Vaanam'.


The launch advertisements for the film appeared in Tamil and English newspapers in Tamil Nadu have Silambarasan on the terrace of a building clad in a jeans and T shirt with accessories that a cable TV operator would have.

'Cable Raja on duty from today', the advertisements said, giving a clue on the role that is going to be played by the actor. To be directed by Krish and produced by B Ramesh and ‘VTV’ Ganesh, the film will have music by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

The Telugu original, which is a cocktail of five different interwoven stories, too was directed by Krish with Allu Arjun, Manoj Manchu, Anushka, Manoj Bajpai, Lekha Washington and others playing the lead roles. The film released on June 4, 2010 to positive reviews.

'Vedam' to be titled as 'Vaanam'

Simbu as he was busy holding discussions with producer R.B Choudary over remaking the Telugu blockbuster 'Vedam'. Finally, Simbu has disclose the film title as 'Vaanam' (Sky) and the shooting of the movie will kick start from July 10.

The official confirmations about other star casts and technicians will be announce shortly. Earlier it has said that Anushka has refused the offer. Now the latest buzz that Anushka say that she gave the green signal for it.

The original version featured Allu Arjun in the lead role of a cable operator while Anushka as a sex-worker and Manchu Mohan as a rock star. The film is about five different characters and how their lives are inter-crossed on an unexpected day.


Tamil Producer R B Chowdhary has bagged the remake rights of Allu Arjun, Anuskha and Manchu Manoj starrer Vedam and is set to remake it on his banner Super Good Films. The film will be a mega budget multi starrer in Tamil also.
As per initial assumptions by the trade RB Chaudhary’s star son Jeeva will play the lead role and either Namita or Anushka will pitch in as the female star.
RB Chowdhary is reported to have paid a hefty amount for the remake rights and plans to make it as his biggest production to date. Other cast and crew will be announced soon.
It seems like Silambarasan who was cleverly managing his acts not getting into the remake wagon has finally boarded the wagon. Silambarasan has signed the remake of the recent sensational Telugu hit ‘Vedam’ that starred Allu Arjun, Manoj and Anushka in lead roles.

Silambarasan who recently saw the Telugu ‘Vedam’ was floored immediately by the Cable Raju character played by Allu Arjun. The Tamil remake rights are with R B Choudary of Super Good Films and with the Tamil version R B Choudary's son and actor 'Jithan' Ramesh will also turn a producer. Silambarasan has even completed a photo session for the remake.

Anushka was contacted to play her role in Tamil also. But the actress is said to have denied the offer. So the new sensation Tapsee of ‘Aadukalam’ may play the role of the commercial sex-worker in the film.

Silambarasan who was supposed to be is London this time for the 'Podaa Podi' shoot is still in Chennai for some reasons. One reason doing the rounds is that the artistes playing the secondary characters are being trained in dance as the film is a dance subject. Another reason said is that the team still hasn’t got the permissions to shoot at some special locations in London.
